1 - Hardware
ISMANS has over 100 workstations with dual processors.
- 65 of these stations, dedicated solely to student, are available in 4 rooms. Students have free access to these rooms at anytime from Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 10:00pm.and on Saturdays from 2pm to 7pm.
- 30 of these workstations are provided to staff members, research students and personnel, and lecturers.
- 20 of these workstations are available for the iMaster programmes and the specialized Masters in Fire Safety Engineering.
-There are also four stations used for calculations in parrellel with 4 dual processor Linux workstations.
A dozen servers (databases, file servers, directories, application servers, Web Intranet, Data Mnagement Techniques, Proxy …)

4 - Maintenance
A third of the equipment and software is replaced every 3 years.
5 - Romocut
A new step in training students in the use of industrial toolsand developing R & D at ISMANS.
ISMANS has just bought a robot machining tool to be used in their current course syllabus. This is a firsttime that such a tool has been incorporated into the syllabus of a higher education institute. This robot otherwise known as ROMOCUT is manufactured and sold by Hexagon Technology. It will train students in the use of industrial machining tools and develop R & D in reverse engineering and rapid prototyping of parts. Its mobility allows machining of soft materials with volumes of up to several cubic meters. It is foreseen that the use of ROMOCUT in industry will lead way to an increase in the variety of prototypes as well as in a reduction in the production time. Students will use this robot in design, engineering design and computer aided manufacturing (FAO). Starting out from an original idea, they will be able to make a prototype by using CAD and this new tool. This new machine in conjunction with the material Stérélithographie, which has been in use at the Institute for nearly 20 years, are some or the new developments in rapid prototyping technology.
