ANOTHER OF PARADIGM AND LABEL
New paradigm for education: DQP and K2D Model*.
The diagram below, built from the opinion of Enterprises Human Resource Staff in 2002 upon the French Engineering School (GE) discloses:
- the role of the history for the level of fame of the French Engineering Schools
- the stratum of mental French references in term of engineering education with two main models State & Industrial model and the seed of new neuronal model conceived and lead by ISMANS
- the role of the military and later economic events in the design of the French Engineering School Network since the creation of the oldest GE in 1784.

ISMANS was created 15 years ago from two epistemological paradigms (see “Knowledge Kairos Management” to be published in English)
- DQP model (Double Quality plan)
- K2D model, (Double Knowledge & Design Model), an extension of CK model developed by ENSMP in the frame of research for the management of the design in engineering environment.
Both model leads a Cluster Model of Collaboration with SME in advanced technology. These models merge, education way of thinking, research and innovation paradigms and entrepreneurship spirit. This model is referred as a neuronal model for education & research in the frame of Knowledge Economy.
Besides standard graduated education delivered by traditional academic staff (1/4 of the time), these models source the student skills in creativity, innovation, research and entrepreneurship from industrial management methods (3/4 of the time). ISMANS is therefore an Engineering School, a Research and Innovation Centre and an Enterprise working in the frame of the Knowledge Economy. Its competences are enhanced by the Anglo- Saxon type of ISMANS stage, private budget, focus on core field of competences, technical international partnership, existence of local cluster of high tech enterprises network ( see for instance http://www.Materialsdesign.com), supporting, long distance lecture from famous foreign Professors or excellence centres. The ratio Professors/students (1/3) is excellent with ¾ of the Professors fulfilling industrial position).
The DQP is controlled by an International Visiting Committee. The design of this type of education finds its origin in industrial strong experiences of the staff in both industrial research and innovation & academics background and on the deep analysis in philosophy of the sciences and technologies.
Euro Graduation @ccess and EG@ Label
EG@ competition: 15% of the recruitment of ISMANS students is achieved through an international competition in Africa, India and China. ISMANS is the designer of EG@ label associated with a neuronal model of education. EG@ supplied 12 Engineering School and University with students interested by the French Engineering Class of education, generally considered at very high level.
EG@ network: EG@ is also a cluster of international partners working together to promote a high level of Engineering Education, the specificities of Research/Innovation/Development virtuous permutation opposite to standard idea of declension of the development from academic research, and a close relationship between enterprises and University.
EG@ PhD and Master Label is a new class of label of excellence for trans disciplinary PhD and Master Thesis. This label can be obtained after two steps: a submission of a summary, motivation letter and 4 letters of recommendations from European Experts (2 academics and 2 from industry), and than after a submission of a manuscript and a voce defence of the thesis.
